Every year the same thing happens. The first hot week arrives, kids are out of school, and thousands of people in your area look at a cloudy pool and search “pool cleaning service near me” within a few days of each other. Google does not sort out who the best pool company is that week. It shows whoever was already ranking.
That is the whole lesson. Pool season SEO is not something you do in pool season. It is something you finish before it.
Build the pages in the winter
The pages you need, titled plainly, should be on your site all year: Pool Service in [Your City], Pool Repair in [Your City], Green Pool Cleanup. Write them in December and January, when the phone is quiet. Let them sit and gather trust. By the first hot week, they have been indexed for months.
A page you publish in May will not rank in May. Google needs time to find it, trust it and place it.
The pool calendar
Pool searches follow the weather, and the weather is predictable. In Florida the pool is open all year, but the searches still swing with the seasons:
- Late winter: “pool resurfacing,” “pool remodel,” “pool heater repair.” Owners fixing things before the season.
- Spring: “pool cleaning service,” “pool opening,” “pool pump repair.” The rush starts.
- Summer rainy season: “green pool,” “pool turned green after rain,” “cloudy pool.” Every afternoon storm makes new customers.
- Fall: “pool leak,” “pool service” from owners who fired a company that skipped visits all summer.
- Hurricane season: “pool after hurricane,” “pool cleanup after storm.” A real page for this, written in spring, wins every time a storm passes.
Each of those is a page or a section. Write them in the season before they matter.
Here is a simple way to keep track. Put a note on your calendar at the start of each season that says “write next season's page.” In January you write the spring pages. In April you write the rainy-season pages. In July you write the fall and storm pages. It is one afternoon every three months, and it keeps you one step ahead of every competitor who writes the page the week the phone starts ringing.
Get your Google listing ready for the surge
Most pool searches happen on a phone, standing next to the pool, and phone searches go to the map. Your Google Business Profile, the free listing that shows on the map, needs current hours, a recent post that says you are taking new weekly customers, and a steady flow of reviews. The Google Business Profile guide walks through it.
Use the slow months for reviews and photos
Winter is when you have time to text every customer a review link, upload a hundred photos of clean pools to your listing, and write the town pages. None of that pays off in January. All of it pays off in May.
Route openings are a seasonal search too
Here is a search most pool companies never think about: the homeowner whose pool company just quit, sold the route or stopped showing up. It happens every spring and fall, and the search is “pool service taking new customers” or “pool company near me” with a frustrated person behind it. A short line on your service page, “We have openings on our Tuesday Brandon route,” updated every month, answers that search directly. It also tells a nervous homeowner that you are organized enough to know your own schedule, which is the thing their last company was not.
The page that is wrong for Florida
A lot of pool SEO advice comes from up north, where pools close in October. If your site has a “pool closing” or “winterization” page because a template came with one, delete it. It tells Google and homeowners that you do not know your own market. Replace it with the pages that are true here: year-round service, the rainy-season green pool, the hurricane cleanup.
What to do on the first hot week
If the pages exist, the first hot week is simple. Post an update on your Google listing. Add a short banner to your homepage pointing to the service page. Answer your phone. The ranking work was done in the winter.
