One Page Per County.
One Per Town Where You Build.

A county list on your contact page is not a service area. Here is what is.

AREAS

You probably build in three or four counties and a dozen towns. Your website probably mentions them once, in a list on the contact page. Google does not rank lists. When a family in Land O' Lakes searches “home builders Land O' Lakes,” Google looks for a page about building homes in Land O' Lakes. If you do not have one, a builder who does gets the tour.

The fix is one page per area. The trap is making them all the same page with the town name swapped. Google sees through that, and so does a buyer who lives there.

County pages first, then towns

For a builder, the county matters more than it does for most trades, because permits, impact fees and lot rules change at the county line, and buyers know it. Start with one page per county you build in: Custom Home Builder in Pasco County. Then add town pages under each county for the places where you have actually built: Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Odessa.

What makes an area page real

Each page needs things that are true only for that place:

  • Homes you built there. Two or three, with photos and the neighborhood. “Four-bedroom in Odessa, finished spring 2026.”
  • A review from a family who lives there. Ask buyers to mention their town. See the reviews guide.
  • What building there is like. The county's permit timeline, roughly. The impact fees. Whether lots tend to need fill. Whether it is mostly acreage or subdivision lots. You know this. Write it down.
  • Lots and communities there. Link to your community pages in that area, and mention if you build on a buyer's own lot there.
  • How often you are there. “We have a superintendent in Pasco every day.”
  • The towns next to it. A few links to the neighboring pages, so the set holds together.

A worked example: the Pasco County page

Title: Custom Home Builder in Pasco County. First sentence: “We build custom homes on your lot and in communities across Pasco County, from Wesley Chapel to Hudson.” Then three homes you finished there, with photos and the town. Then a plain paragraph about what building in Pasco is like: how the permit office works, what the impact fees run, which areas tend to need fill. Then the communities you build in there, linked. Then a review from a Pasco family. Then the towns, each linked to its own page. Then your phone number. That page is the best answer on the internet to “home builder Pasco County,” because nobody else bothered to write it.

What every area page shares

Your plans, with links to the plan pages. Your process, with a link to the custom home page. Your license, your phone number at the top and the bottom. That part can be the same on every page. The rest cannot.

Build-on-your-lot is an area search too

Families who already own land search “build on your lot [county]” and “builders for acreage in [town].” If you do that work, say so on every area page, in a short paragraph of its own, with a home you built on a buyer's land there. It is a search the big community builders cannot compete for, because they do not do it.

Start with three, not fifteen

Pick the two counties where you do the most work, plus the one town where you want more. Build those well. Add the rest one at a time as you finish homes there and have real photos to show. Three good pages beat fifteen thin ones, and thin ones can hurt the rest of your site.

The far-away town problem

If you build in a town that is an hour from your office, your Google listing may never show on the map there. The area page is how you show up anyway, in the regular results under the map. A staffed model home in that town, with its own listing, is the other half. The Google listing guide covers that.

Where they live on your site

An “Where We Build” item in your main menu that goes to a short page listing each county, with its towns under it, each linked. Link to the county pages from the homepage too. Google finds pages by following links, and an area page nobody links to is an area page nobody finds.
