The Playbook

How Accountants
Win Search.

When someone needs tax help or a bookkeeper, they search — "CPA near me", "small business accountant [city]" — and the firm that ranks earns the client. For an accountant, SEO turns that steady, high-intent demand into new clients year-round, not just a scramble during tax season. Here's what winning search takes.

Local presence and service pages

Accounting is local and relationship-driven, so an optimized Google Business Profile and reviews put you in the map pack where clients look. Pair that with a dedicated page for each service — tax prep, bookkeeping, advisory — targeting how clients search, and you rank for the specific needs that bring in the best-fit work.

Content that builds trust

Clients hand accountants sensitive financials, so trust matters. Clear service pages, answers to common tax and bookkeeping questions, and a credible, secure site build the authority that both ranks you and reassures a prospect choosing between firms.

Why it beats seasonal ads

Paid ads spike in tax season and vanish the rest of the year. SEO compounds: the rankings and content you build keep bringing clients every month, and a strong local presence turns tax-season traffic into year-round relationships. If you want to see where your site stands today, the free audit is the fastest way to find out.

Common Questions

Questions
Before You Sign Up.

Can a small firm outrank the big accounting franchises?

Yes, on the searches that matter locally. Franchises rank for broad brand terms but have weak local SEO. A firm with an optimized Google Business Profile, dedicated service pages, and real reviews routinely outranks them for "accountant near me" and "[city] tax preparation" searches.

Is accounting SEO only useful during tax season?

No — that's the biggest misconception. Bookkeeping, advisory, and business accounting generate demand all year, and because rankings take months to build, the off-season is when you invest so you're already ranking when tax season hits. SEO turns a seasonal spike into steady, year-round client flow.

What pages does an accounting site need?

A dedicated page for each service you offer — tax prep, bookkeeping, business accounting, advisory — plus content answering common client questions. This targeted structure lets you rank for specific searches rather than forcing one page to cover everything.

How long until SEO brings in clients?

Expect local and service-search movement within 3–4 months, with steady client flow building between months 4 and 8 as authority accrues. Local searches respond fastest. Results compound rather than switching off like ads.

Do you work with solo CPAs and larger firms?

Both. A solo CPA focuses on dominating local search; a multi-person firm can also rank for a wider range of services and, if applicable, multiple locations — each with its own optimized page.

Connor Cedro – Tampa SEO Consultant
About

Accounting SEO,
Done Directly.

Hey, I'm Connor.

Accounting is one of the few industries where search intent is unmistakable. Nobody types “CPA near me” casually — they have a deadline, a notice from the IRS, or a business that has outgrown a spreadsheet.

That makes the work concrete. You don't need traffic. You need to be the firm that shows up when someone in your county is ready to hand over their books.

I'm a SEMrush-certified Tampa SEO consultant with an MBA from SMU's Cox School of Business. You work with me directly — no account managers, no contracts.

The free audit is where every engagement starts. You'll see where you rank today, which competitors are taking the searches you want, and what I'd fix first.

Common Questions

Questions
Before You Book.

How long does SEO actually take to work?

You'll see early movement in 60-90 days – usually new keyword rankings and traffic to specific pages I optimize first. Real compounding growth happens between months 4 and 9 as content builds topical authority. SEO isn't a 30-day sprint, but it's also not the 18-month timeline most agencies sell. If a strategy is working, you'll see signs within the first quarter.

How much does SEO cost?

It depends on the scope, but my engagements are month-to-month with no contracts and priced significantly lower than a typical agency retainer – because there's no overhead, no junior team, and no account managers. You pay for the work, not the org chart. The free audit is the easiest way to get a real number for your specific situation.

Why work with you instead of an SEO agency?

Most agencies pitch you the senior strategist, then hand the actual work to a junior with a checklist. You get me – every audit, every strategy, every published page. I work with a small roster of clients on purpose so I can do real work instead of managing accounts. If you want a 50-person agency with quarterly reviews, I'm the wrong call. If you want one person who actually knows your site, I'm a good fit.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No, and you should be skeptical of anyone who does. Google controls rankings, not me. What I can guarantee is the work – the strategy, the technical fixes, the content, the link building. Across active client accounts, the same playbook drives 10K+ ranking keywords today. Your results depend on your starting point, your competition, and how well we execute together.

Do you only work with Tampa businesses?

I'm based in Tampa, but I work with clients nationally. Many of my industry pages – jewelers, wealth managers, doctors, lawyers – target a national audience. The local SEO playbook works for any city, and the broader SEO strategy doesn't care where your office is. If your business serves customers online, geography doesn't matter.

What if SEO isn't right for my business?

SEO works best for businesses where customers actively search for what you do – service businesses, local providers, B2B companies, ecommerce. It's a poor fit for brand-new product categories nobody is searching for yet, or for one-time-purchase items with zero search intent. The free audit will tell you honestly whether SEO is your best growth channel – if it's not, I'll say so.
